DALLAS, TX.- An Hermès 35cm Diamond, Black Crocodile Birkin with 18K White Gold Hardware – one of the most exclusive handbags on the entire planet – is expected to bring $100,000+ on Dec. 4 at Heritage Auctions as the top lot in the company’s Holiday Handbags & Luxury Accessories event.

“While spectacular, the Black Diamond Birkin is just the tip of the iceberg in the auction,” said Matt Rubinger, Director of Luxury Accessories at Heritage Auctions. “With 395 Hermès lots alone, out of 942 total handbags being offered, I can safely say this is the single finest and largest grouping of Hermés ever offered, at auction, as the centerpiece of what is likely the greatest handbag auction ever held.”

Many of the Hermès bags in the auction are so exclusive that there is no store in the world that a collector could walk in to and simply order or take down from a shelf.

“There’s no telling where or when another one of these bags will appear and true collectors know that,” said Rubinger. “These bags are authentic, beautiful, retain their value and carry the name of the top luxury brand in the world.”

Among the Hermès rarities offered will be a 40cm HAC Amethyst Porosus Crocodile Travel Birkin (Opening bid: $50,000), a 35cm Shiny Violet Porosus Crocodile Birkin with Gold Hardware (Opening bid: $40,000), a a 25cm Ombre Lizard Birkin (Opening bid: $15,000) and a Sterling Silver Mini Kelly (Opening bid: $10,000).

Other top designer names will be offered in the auction and, no doubt, equally sought-after. A Chanel Matte Jaune Yellow Crocodile Jumbo Flap Bag is already seeing a good bit of pre-auction buzz, with an opening bid of $8,000, while a Louis Vuitton Limited Edition Monogram Mink, Black Crocodile and Lambskin Le Fabuleux Bag (Opening bid: $3,500) and an Yves Saint Laurent Red Shiny Crocodile Sac Uptown (Opening bid: $2,500) offer exclusivity and style along with two of the top names in couture.

Further highlights include, but are certainly not limited to:

• Hermès 35cm Shearling Kelly: Opening bid $10,000

• Hermès 35cm Electric Blue Clemence Leather Birkin: Opening bid $8,000

• Hermès 32cm Shiny Poudre Alligator Sellier Kelly Bag with Gold Hardware: Opening bid $7,500
