LOS ANGELES, CA.- Following on the extraordinary result for its auction of the Collection of Sir Daniel Donohue on April 4-5, 2011 in Los Angeles, which brought more than $4-million and was 100% sold, Bonhams & Butterfields announce the May 22-23, 2011, Sunset Estate Auction. The upcoming sale will feature additional works from the Collection highlighted by a strong selection of furniture, decorative arts and ecclesiastical decorations.

Highlights from the Collection of Sir Daniel Donohue include a handsome green and white Continental porcelain armorial dinner service in the English taste (est. $700-900); a group of German blanc de chine porcelain table decorations (est. $500-700); antique playing cards (estimates vary) and a collection of 20th Century smoking related articles comprised of cigarette holders, ashtrays and decorative matchbook covers (est. $100-150) as well as a strong selection of ecclesiastical decorations. Property from the Donohue Collection will be offered with no reserve during the May sale.

Additional works from the Collection of Sir Daniel Donohue will also be included within the following auctions at Bonhams in London: The Russian Sale on June 8, 2011 and Old Master Paintings on July 6, 2011.

The May sale will also feature a large selection of furniture, decorative arts, designer furnishings, rugs, silver, porcelain, jewelry, books and paintings from collections and estates throughout the United States.

Highlights include wood, metal and red velvet theater seats formally of the Pasadena Playhouse, Pasadena, CA (est. $500-700); a Gorham sterling coffee and tea service (est. $6,000-8,000); a George III style walnut partners desk (est. $3,000-4,000); a George III style mahogany serving table, in the manner of Robert Adam (est. $3,000-4,000) and a Norman Rockwell complete suite of lithographs titled American Family, each sign and numbered (est. $3,000-4,000).
