Bonhams Appoints Filipa Rebelo de Andrade as New Representative in Portugal
Since leaving Fundacao Oriente she has worked as a Private Art Consultant for a variety of commercial and private clients including insurance companies.
LONDON.- Bonhams, the international fine art auction house, has appointed Filipa Rebelo de Andrade as the company’s representative in Portugal. She is based in Lisbon.

Filipa’s professional experience includes an art curatorship at the Fundacao Oriente in Lisbon, where she collaborated with the building up of the collection, was responsible for all issues regarding collection management, and in particular with the relationship between the Fundacao and the commercial art world.

Since leaving Fundacao Oriente she has worked as a Private Art Consultant for a variety of commercial and private clients including insurance companies.

Moving between the commercial and academic worlds she has lectured for three years in Architecture and European Studies at a Portuguese University.

While still a student she worked in Sotheby’s Chinese Department and has specialist knowledge in Chinese art as a result of studies at Cambridge. Her education included a postgraduate diploma from the University of Manchester/Sotheby’s Institute under the title of “Early Sino-Portuguese Porcelain Trade; porcelain from Jiajing and Zhengde”; and she has an MA degree in History of Art from the Lusiada University in Lisbon.

Filipa is fluent in Portuguese, English, Spanish and has a good level of fluency in German. She is involved in social work, teaching and tutoring at a school for underprivileged girls in the Lisbon area.

Matthew Girling, Bonhams CEO for Europe and the Middle East, comments: “ We are delighted to have secured the services of Filipa de Andrade. She will doubtless build on our presence in Portugal which remains one of the great storehouses of art and antique treasures in Europe.”
