With the exhibition 'Alice Springs', the Berlin-based Helmut Newton Foundation
has been presenting since June 12th, 2010 the first retrospective of June Newton internationally. In 1970, she started her own photographic work under the pseudonym Alice Springs; this has been exhibited regularly at the Helmut Newton Foundation since 2005, namely in "June's Room." The current retrospective in Berlin provides with a range of approximately 250 works a comprehensive look at the four decades that span her work, presenting advertising and fashion photographs as well as nudes, and above all portraits.
Since its opening in June 2004, the Helmut Newton Foundation has welcomed more than 800 000 visitors. Due to this huge success also of the current show, the 'Alice Springs' exhibition will now be on view until 15th May 2011. After that, it will be presented at the kestnergesellschaft in Hanover from November 24th, 2011 to February 2nd, 2012.
On the occasion of the exhibition, a trilingual publication has been published by TASCHEN. It is only and exclusively available at the König/TASCHEN bookstore at the Museum of Photography/Helmut Newton Foundation.
