After its highly successful debut in 2008 as a booth-based event Red Dot Art Fair
will return to the Wynwood Art District in Miami. Red Dot is located directly across from Art Miami and among other high profile fairs that run concurrent to Art Basel Miami Beach.
The opening reception on Wednesday, December 2nd will benefit GreenMiami, a project initiated by Mayor of Miami - the Honorable Mr. Manuel Diaz, and endorsed by the entire City Commission. All donations collected during the reception will go directly to the City of Miami Tree Trust Fund to support future tree plantings. We hope to help the City of Miami achieve its goal to increase the City's tree canopy to 30% by 2017.
Red Dot will proudly display Eco - Totems, an art installation created specifically for our event by Luis Valenzuela. The installation consists of recycled plastic bottles and solar panels and will emphasize our efforts to bring increased awareness to important environmental needs. Eco - Totems will be accompanied by hand cast glass sculptures created by Beth Rekow as a part of a project curated by Eileen Braziel, "Humans Shouldn't Do Machine's Work."
Under the direction of Red Dot owner George Billis, approximately 40 international modern and contemporary art galleries will feature painting, sculpture, photography and works on paper. The luxurious layout of the 30 thousand square foot tented venue will provide visitors with a sophisticated and friendly environment to view artwork and network with art dealers.
Red Dot Fair strives to create a boutique art fair for galleries specializing in emerging, mid-career and established artists that seek to present work of lasting value and beyond current trends. Red Dot Miami 2009 will again feature galleries selected to provide collectors of all levels with a broad range of works from around the world.
Red Dot announced their new venue location for New York City. Red Dot New York will take place March 4 - 7, 2010 at the Skylight.
