MIAMI, FL.- Art Miami, the city's original and longest-running contemporary art fair, will celebrate its 20th anniversary this year. As the anchor of the Midtown Arts District, Art Miami's longevity and success position it as one of the year's most prestigious art world happenings.

“The culture and community of Miami has helped shape this fair into an integral part of the international contemporary art world,” said Nick Korniloff, Director of Art Miami. “We are confident that the depth and quality of the art works exhibited will match the current desires of those who attend, and will make Art Miami 2009 another ‘can’t miss’ for all curators, collectors and fairgoers alike.”

While Art Miami 2009 celebrates a milestone in longevity; it also marks a new beginning. Under the new ownership of Art Miami, LLC, led by Mike Tansey, Brian Tyler and Korniloff, the show will feature more than 80 galleries from the United States, Asia, Latin America and Europe, presenting a selection of the world’s most imported contemporary and modern art in an 80,000-square-foot, state of the art pavilion.

The 20th edition of Art Miami will feature a wide range of special exhibitions, including large outdoor sculpture from world renowned artist Tony Cragg, a series of museum quality video installations curated by Asher Remy Toledo and Julia Draganovic, select offerings from private and public collections, all helping to make Art Miami a prime destination for art collectors, curators, museum professionals and art enthusiasts.

For the second consecutive year, Art Miami will partner with the Sundari Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, non-denominational public charity, headquartered in Miami. The foundation, chaired by Constance Collins Margulies, assists disadvantaged women and is celebrating the launch of “Heart Miami”, a public awareness campaign dedicated to illuminating ways in which art has the capacity to touch and uplift those in need. Sundari will host an exclusive champagne reception to precede Art Miami’s VIP Preview on Dec. 1. Proceeds from donations at the door will benefit the Lotus House Women’s Shelter in Miami’s Overtown neighborhood.

Coinciding with the 20th anniversary, Art Miami will also collaborate with ArtTable, the leadership organization for professional women in the visual arts, to recognize the "20 Most Influential Women in the Arts in South Florida" with a brunch in their honor on Dec. 4. Following the brunch, Argentine photographer, video and installation artist Graciela Sacco will be on hand for a book signing. In addition, Art Miami 2009’s Second Annual Museum Professional and Curator Brunch will take place Dec. 3.
