SAINT LOUIS, MO.- The Saint Louis Art Museum
announces the Young Friends Art and Architecture Tour, an evening of art and architecture on June 19 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
The event will take place at the Phillip Slein Gallery, located at 1319 Washington Ave., where participants will meet with local artists and receive a crash course on collecting art.
In addition, a half-hour trolley tour will be offered three times throughout the evening, led by Douglis Beck, professor of Art History and Design at Webster University. The tour will focus on sites representing distinct phases of modern architecture in St. Louis and will include a stop at Architecture St. Louis, the Washington Avenue gallery operated by the Landmarks Association of St. Louis.
Participants will also enjoy cocktails and hors d'oeuvres from Washington Avenue's finest eateries at the gallery. Special thanks to Chandler Hill Vineyards, Schlafly Beer, Luxco, Kitchen K, Mosaic Modern Fusion Restaurants and Sen Thai Asian Bistro for their support of this event.
All funds raised at this event will go towards the Young Friends Art Purchase Fund, which allows the Museum to acquire works of art for the Museum's collection. Tickets are $35 in advance ($25 for Young Friends and Landmark Association members) and $5 more at the door the night of the event. They can be purchased at www.slam.org/youngfriends or by calling 314.655.5416.
