Amon Carter Museum has Reframed their Fitz Henry Lane with Eli Wilner & Company
Amon Carter's Fitz Henry Lane Reframed.
FORT WORTH, TX.- The Amon Carter Museum has recently reframed their masterpiece Boston Harbor of 1856 by Fitz Henry Lane in a period frame from Eli Wilner & Company. The frame original to the painting was no longer on the painting when it entered the collection in 1977 and the existing frame did not do justice to Lane's evocative panorama. The frame selected is an American frame from the 1850's, with a sanded cove accented with delicate ornament near the top rail that echoes and enhance the precise, faithful detail of the composition. The soft gold of the surface, along with the fine sand texture of the cove serve to reinforce the sense of light and stillness so sensitively depicted by the artist.

The Amon Carter Museum, located in Fort Worth, Texas houses one of the nation's preeminent collections of American art, from works by the early nineteenth-century artist-explorers through those of the mid-twentieth-century modernists and up to the work of contemporary photographers. The museum also holds one of the most comprehensive collections of work by Frederic Remington and Charles M. Russell.

With an inventory of over 3,000 frames, Eli Wilner & Company utilizes their knowledge of historical styles to make perfect marriages of painting and frame. Whether a period frame or a precise replica, each frame project receives the utmost care and attention from beginning to end.
