The JPMorgan Chase Museum Career Paid Internship at Jersey City Museum
JERSEY CITY, NJ.-There is still time for interested individuals to apply for Jersey City Museum’s Museum Career Internship, which is sponsored by JPMorgan Chase and will cover the 2008-2009 academic year. The internship will be awarded to a deserving student enrolled in or graduated from a university in the state of New Jersey. The nine-month paid internship will provide the student with the opportunity to gain training and practical job skills, make professional connections and address career goals. The intern will gain experience in the museum field by cycling through the museum’s curatorial, education and development departments. “The JPMorgan Chase Museum Career Internship mirrors our core business principles and creates opportunists for young people to gain the practical skills that will start them on their their professional careers.” Says Etta Rudolf Denk, Vice President, Community Development Group for JPMorgan Chase.

Rutgers University Doctoral student and current JPMorgan Chase Intern, Angela Oh, has already worked in both the curatorial and development departments of the Jersey City Museum. “I get really involved in the actual projects and am learning skills that are imperative in cultural organizations. The museum’s staff has provided me with a warm and welcoming environment and I am very grateful for the opportunity, which I believe will be a milestone in my career.” Oh says about her experience as an intern at the museum.

Applicants must possess a demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in museum work and must be enrolled in a Master’s level art history, history, art education or American studies program, a Master’s level museum studies or non-profit management program; or a Master of Fine Art program.

The internship is 21 hours a week and will run from September 2008 through May 2009 with a Honorium of $12,000. Applicants can visit the Museum’s website, www.jerseycitymuseum.org, for complete application details.
