16 Best Jaw-Dropping Cosplays

Some people think cosplay is all about girls wearing sexy lingerie. But if you’ve been into it for quite a while, you know it’s more than that.

Cosplay is more than appealing women in appealing outfits. It can be very sophisticated and well thought out. Here is the list of cosplays that fit this definition.

Edward Scissorhands
Made by Alyson Tabbitha, a well-known cosplayer, this cosplay is great in so many respects.

The leather outfit is made with great attention to detail. The belts, the rivets on the main belt, and the little chain make its wearer look stunning.

The scissorhands are brilliantly executed as well. It must have taken Alyson hours to make them.

The best thing about this cosplay is the atmosphere. Alyson recreates a bewildered and melancholic look that Johny Depp created in the movie.

Hellboy
Doesn’t look like Hellboy from the 2004 movie? It’s because it’s not supposed to. This cosplayer recreated the comic books that predated the movie.

The costume copies Mignola’s brutish version of Hellboy down to the smallest detail, including the dots on the torso. The amount of work put in this outfit is incredible. The only criticism one might have is that the cosplayer could have made the figurine impaled on the sword look more like a demon instead of a cat.

The man behind this cosplay is Mythbuster’s co-host Adam Savage. Hellboy isn’t his only cosplay - he’s also built a fully functioning mecha-glove.

And let’s be honest, there’s none so worthy of cosplaying Hellboy as a man named Savage.

Angel of Death
Now, this cosplay is a take on a Hellboy character from the movie franchise. If you’ve seen Hellboy II: The Golden Army, you’ll have no problem recognizing the terrifying Angel of Death.

The iconic blind look that’s probably inspired by the Silent Hill franchise was made much milder by this cosplayer. The level of attention to detail is astonishing, but this look is less brutish and repugnant than that of the character from the movie.

Big Daddy
Bioshock’s iconic Big Daddy is a subject of many cosplays - some great and some not so great. Costume-wise, this one is pretty good. The metal parts are great but the suit itself could do with a bit more detail.

The best thing about these cosplayers is that there are two of them. Taking your daughter or niece to an event like that is just super nice.

And it’s not just about cosplay. You’re seeing a new generation of cosplayers being born. In 10 years, this girl will order custom papers to skip studies and head to the Comiccon instead!

Heath Leger’s Joker
Joker is cosplayed so much his persona has become almost trite. But few cosplayers have succeeded in capturing the mood of Heath Leger’s iconic performance.

Whether this cosplayer meant it or he was plain exhausted, he got it right. Look at his face. It’s the face of a man who got tired of living in society.

Jack Nicholson’ Joker and Penguin
Jack’s Joker is so much different from Heath’s. He’s more cartoonish, more eccentric, and way more bright. In terms of colors, not the performance, mind you.

These two created wholesome looks that capture Tim Burton’s characters perfectly. Wouldn’t you want to save the world from this villainous duet?

Drag Deadpool
There probably isn’t a Marvel superhero that’s better suited for drag than Deadpool. He’s queer, to say the least, and he’s not afraid to show it. No, he’s not gay, he’s more like Loki in this sense. He simply doesn’t care.

This cosplayer captured the spirit of Deadpool quite well. The costume is rich in detail as well.

The Simpson Sisters
This may not be the cosplay you expected to see, but here it is. The iconic duo from The Simpsons, Selma and Patty Bouvier, meet their sister at a 2013 gaming event.

At the core of their persona are cynicism, puffy hair, and cigarettes. These two cosplayers execute this perfectly. The costumes themselves may not be incredibly detailed, but the essence of the characters is captured flawlessly.

Leela
Another character by Matt Groening, Leela, doesn’t need an incredibly detailed outfit to look good in cosplay. The biggest job this cosplayer did is she made Leela’s eye look natural.

This Wondercon appearance is the best documented Leela cosplay. Most other cosplayers have a huge cartoonish eye. Sabrina Cruz Castro took her time to create a natural-looking eye, Showing how Leela would look in real life.

Imperial Fist Armor
This full-suit armor is one of the best Warhammer 40k cosplays. It looks just like a Space Marine armor should look like. It’s heavy, intimidating, and rugged.

The paint job makes the suit look rusty, and the small details like litanies on the armor make it look like it’s been worn for decades.

The suit is foamy, and its wearer can freely walk in it. It took two months to make and cost its creators, Daniel Høgh and Justina Šniukštaitė, two thousand dollars. For such a complex cosplay, this is a fair price.

Rancor
If you’re not a Star Wars fan, you may not even know the name of this beast. Rancor is the monster who would eat up Jabba’s prisoners. Now, this cosplayer brought him to life.

The costume looks incredible, and even though the cosplayer can’t move the enormous arms, you can tell it took a lot of work.

Unknown Creature
This creature is not a character of any movie or video game. This cosplayer who remains anonymous created the costume from the ground up. Both the idea and the execution are just amazing.

Ranger
This cosplayer put a lot of work into creating the Ranger class costume from Anthem. It looks like a heavily modified motorcycle suit, but a very well made one. The metal parts look wholesome, and just a bit worn.

The only problem with this suit is that it can’t fly.

Pyramid Head
A cosplayer nicknamed jhurr91 created the Pyramid Head cosplay worthy of Silent Hill. The heavy sword and metal pyramid on his head look grim. Even this guy’s garage looks like a location from a horror game.

A LoTR Orc
Just look at the prosthetic face this cosplayer created. It looks like the face of an old orc, covered in wrinkles and scars. The teeth and earrings add small details to the face that make it look alive.

Eleven
Everything you need to make a successful Eleven cosplay is Eggos. This Redditor proved it.
